Each Valentines Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas we prepare a special care package of useful and fun items for all hospice patients connected with the units we partner with.
With allergy, dietary needs in mind each Packages can include:
Something of use - lotion, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, socks
Something for snacks - tropical ice sticks, candy
Something to occupy time - puzzle/coloring books, inspirational reading material
Something to just bring a smile - stuffed animals, handmade craft associated with each holiday
Requests for assistance with trips to and from medical appointments has been provided by CHU with gas cards. Requests have been made for items that insurances may not cover such as Ensure drinks, bed sheet sets, bed pads, etc. Meals have been prepared for families in need and delivered by the hospice units.
*individuals needing assistance from CHU will be required to have a referral from their associated hospice unit.
Donations
Kroger.com Community Rewards Register at kroger.com, enter Caring Hearts United and each time you use your Plus Card Kroger will donate a percentage of your purchase amount to CHU.
In Memoriam Donation In lieu of flowers a monetary donation can be made to CHU in memoriam of a loved one (Donation cards are placed at most Warren County funeral homes).
Personal or Organizational Donations Individuals, church groups, businesses can support CHU with monetary donations. *Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by local, state, and federal law.
Our outreach efforts are funded by public events sponsored through Caring Hearts United. Events we sponsor include Cake Walk Around the Square, spring bake sales, summer yard sales, and smiley face placards placed in local businesses. CHU participates in the Warren County Fair, and Autumn Street Fair utilizing unique fundraisers. We apply for city and county grants when available.
Wonderland of Trees
Wonderland of Trees is our largest fundraiser of the year. For this event the community gets involved by donating decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, hand made crafts, and paintings placed on silent auction. For one week in November, the donated items are on display at Three Star Mall in McMinnville, TN. Wonderland of Trees includes main stage live entertainment and an activity section for children. The public enjoys walking through this Wonderland and placing bids on holiday treasures.
